Beggars Group / XL Recordings hired Router to conceptualize, design, and produce an electronic art installation for the release of The Smile’s album “Cutouts". The project spanned lighting, video, and web. I co-designed the installation concept and led UI design/development for the web component.Attendees could enter the temporary 6-digit code on the TV screen to unlock an exclusive music video on The Smile’s website. Our goal was to create a local web experience that couldn’t be hacked by The Smile’s global fandom. Following the cryptography theme of the album rollout, Sam created a cypher from the current UTC timestamp (provided in Javascript as Date.now), which replaced the need for a remote server.
